Very FEW lawyers will go up against Verizon's Legal Department (VZ has over 100 internal and external lawyers (of all kinds) on contract) , So of course your lawyer will say it looks good to shut you up, take the money, run and Let It Go.

If you feel that age or race was a factor please file a complaint with the EEOC. The severance package does not prevent you from doing this and it's FREE

Same here - my sister in law works for a large law firm and had a friend (employment attorney) look at it - she said the package was fairly standard and more generous than she typically see. I did not feel that way but this lady has 20 years of experience in the field and is one of the leading attorneys in the practice

I had a labor lawyer review my letter and he said there was nothing unusual about the language used so I went ahead and signed mine.

We actually talked to our lawyer about it and were told we needed an employee / labor lawyer - the thing of it is, we're going to sign, we just wanted to know EXACTLY what we were signing

186 is right. Save your $$$. Don't bother with an attorney to look at your severance. Unless your attorney is family, he'll just eat your severance $$$. The better route is to take the $$$ and hit the politicians looking for votes. And look into possible class action. That way you can move on with positive things in your life without the worry of losing anything.
