Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

I was a Verizon Wireless and Verizon in a combination of 5 years. When I made the move to Verizon, I was warned I was stepping into the dark

side. Verizon did have a tendency to make things more complicated, elongated and isolated to justify why people were rewarded for loyalty. You did have a target on your back if you were with the company over 10 years or received a promotion. I did see brown nosers appear to get ahead and I just didn't know how to live with myself being someone's puppet, puppy or robot. I grew three levels through diligence, pushing past the anxiety and working as practical as I could. The more I figured things out, the more I received sabotage from my peers. I knew I was doing a job of 3 people combined but I was viewed as docile, passive, too meek or not dominant enough. I treated everyone from the mailroom clerk to the CEO with the same level of acknowledgement and courtesy. I did not brown nose or poo poo on anyone. I actually lost a lot of respect for people needing to have weak people around them to kiss their butts. Anyway; I was being pushed out and was able to fight for severance. They would have loved nothing more than for me to run out the door and leave everything on the table. I missed the work I did but that place was imploding and I was relieved. I literally felt like I got off a rollercoaster. Be good to your self. Know that this is like the titanic sinking. You'll find all kinds of people deal with denial and insecurity in different ways; have compassion with each other; and less hatred for that place - it is draining...it truly is draining.

I got out of that place last year: 12/21/14, and I've never looked back!!!! I think it was the best thing that I could've done for my future and my sanity. All the best to you and everyone that's getting off that sinking ship
