ATT is dropping people but the cost is the issue. Make more and your a target. Technician make 86k and can be replaced with someone in another country for less then one half . The outside techs can be replaced by contractors People think Direct TV help add jobs. Think again. Direct TV is all outside contractors and they make between 18 and 26 dollars per hour depending on location.
"The older white male is the leading class being removed." I love how older white males suddenly think they're being discriminated against. It's funny. The reality is older workers are being pushed out because they make more money and AT&T wants to avoid the retirement hit. That's all. No one cares about your race, gender, or religion. I'm sad to see it getting racial on this page.

Look at the AT&T Insider / Home Page and search the groups. Your mail invites too! Women, Pride LGBT, Indian, Asian, Black, and Carpool groups are all represented. Are you in one of those groups fine, however, be glad you are on staff and not in the streets. Your minority status is protecting you. Not your skills or payband point. I am glad I get to go in tomorrow. In reality there may be a TATA, Infosys, or ArcTech Indian(s) in the plane and on the way to displace another business unit. It is true...a lot of call center and support is now in Bratislava. If there is true equality and diversity, where is there a group and support for White Males. Look around sheeple! They are laying off Americans of all stripes and replacing them with Indians. They get to save money and toot their own diversity horns. As with any leftist multikulti policy, it will fail in the end, and management will themselves be replaced.

No one is catering to anyone. Management is catering to however they can make the most money. This means laying off workers who make relatively higher salaries so they can fill the jobs with off-shore workers or cheap college kids.

Death Star you said what many are thinking, observing and watching from their jobs. Look at all of the hiring on career boards for att now in Bratislava and India. A search of careers and att will confirm this. Across the board in Tech' H-1B foreign guest workers are the rule. That complements offshoring. This effort with SDR, NVF, and moving from DS1 DS3 based networks to all IP will remove many network and classic telco plant jobs. Many of the wireless engineers are drunk on denial think they are still high technology and will not be let go or caught in a RIF. T wrote the book on dumping workers at all levels. Remember the 40'000 workers back in 1990 1991. There is a tendency to promote as reward and cater to the perceived social deviants.
Remember a minority manager 30 years or so ago thinking Telstar 301 was a rock band.
