But we can't just take their panderings at face value without asking them to elaborate and explain themselves. And I don't follow what statements Sessions is confirming. That an audit should be done? Well, sure, Sessions has been calling for that for some time. The difference between Sessions and Cruz is that Sessions has been consistent in his opposition toward the H1B program. Cruz, however, has been consistent in calling for an increase in the annual cap. But now he says he wants an audit. I have no choice but to believe it's the old politician game of "Let's create a committee and do a study" and drag it out as long as they can while sounding like they're actually doing something about it. Now, I'm glad he brought up the need for an audit, but he needs to do it on the Senate floor. The Senate is in Session - he can do it tomorrow. But instead, he brings it up as a candidate for President, which tells me that AS president he will call for an audit and leave it in the hands of someone else in the Senate to introduce. That means sometime in 2017. NOT SOON ENOUGH. No, whether it's Cruz or Clinton or Rubio or Sanders, we MUST hold their feet to the fire and say, "You said you want an audit. Why haven't you brought it up in the Senate? Why don't you demand it be done now? Why didn't you call for an audit to determine the actual need for H1B's before you called for an increase in the cap to 325,000?" I'm sorry, Cruz is speaking from from both sides of his mouth.
454 What I read (article above), Sen. Sessions says you are incorrect - he confirmed Cruz's statements. Since Sen. Sessions is the single loudest voice regarding H1B abuses, I trust him more than I do you. However, assuming you are correct, at the very least, we are now getting some Senators to speak in public about the pain H1Bs are inflicting on American workers. The more of those that are speaking out in public, the better. Our only way to change this is via the federal government, as this is a federal law. The only way to get it changed is to speak out about the injustices it is causing to all Americans. So the more we speak, the louder we speak, the sooner it will be changed. Electing officials that are speaking about it in public, even if it is lip service, is better than what we are enduring today.
Please. Cruz previously wanted to increase the annual cap on H1B's to 325,000. And just recently, he said that more student H1B's would actually mean the creation of more "job makers", and thus more jobs (as if H1B job creators would ever hire Americans). But now he wants a moratorium for a whole 180 days so an audit can be performed. A whole 180 days. I applaud him calling for an audit but a moratorium on visa issuance is meaningless. Why? Because a moratorium on issuing visas will not stop the process of corporations and contracting firms from applying for the visas (which are submitted every April 1) and the subsequent lottery that decides how many applications will be approved for each applying company. In other words, a moratorium on visa issuance will not stop next April's 85,000 visa applications from being approved. If Cruz's 180 day moratorium were to go into effect today, guess what? It would end in April just in time for next years crop of visas to be issued. Furthermore, this year's (2015) allotment of visa permits have probably all been issued by now. And finally, has Mr Cruz introduced this grand plan in a bill on the Senate floor? No. Has he even introduced legislation to get the ball rolling on an audit - with or without a moratorium? No. Anything short of a bill is nothing but mouth talk. Empty mouth talk. Don't let this rascal pull the wool over your eyes. His call for a moratorium is politician double-speak at its worst. Until he renounces his plan to increase the number of H1B's (WHICH HE HAS NOT), anything he says about the matter is said with a forked tongue.
How about all the income taxes that they VZ have legally evaded, Billion$ and Billions$
of legally evaded taxes, which when paid should go to rehire all those let go and send the H1-Bs home ,

One other thing that can help restrict job loss because of H1b, L1, J1, B1 and F1 visa holders, is relay hunger strike by employees in front of the offices of corporate offices and state and federal legeslative buildings. What is needed is a national organization that will actively protest the reckless corporate behaviour that is hurting American worker, that is foundation for American economy.
It may not have helped us avoid RIFs with Verizon, but it may help us on our next job, if changed.
