Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

What do you do get an interview call from VZ? There are 100 opening on the internal VZ CAREERS website. However no one calls you when you apply

Not even a single.email why you were not considered. If they have already decided who they are going to hire then why are the wasting time.of potential internal applicants? This is a crime allowed by VZ HR.

Make sure your talent profile is updated and your resume highlights your skill set... I had over 50 ppl apply for a position and I could eliminate 30 of them because their talent profile was blank and resume was very basic... I would have thought HR would have filtered this applications out ... But just some food for thought...

HR is joke, and the guy who said the conversations are not confidential is absolutely correct. They have zero power and is VZ are completely useless.

HR should be empowered and be.an independent org. They should not be puppets of mgmt. They are allowing all kind of nepotism in verizon hiring and firing process.

Have you ever personally spoken to someone in HR? They are not empowered...they have no idea of what anyone's job entails. They are basically paper pushers...and your conversations with them are not confidential...so don't go and look for help as they are heading to see your management the minute you leave their office.

HR should t ake complete control of the hiring and firing ptocess. Today it is all based on favoritism and nepotism. At least in IT it is completely out of control.

In VZcareer, you can see who the recruiter and hiring manager is. You can always reach out to the recruiter direct and ask questions. Like any job search, you should network and see if you know anyone to help you to get a hold of the hiring manager. If you had a good relationship with your last manager, you should ask him/her to contact the hiring manager on your behalf and recommend your service. This is obviously not guaranteed, but it should bump you up near the top of the application pile.

There are about 500 jobs in the internal jobsite. Some of those have been posted in the last one week. You keep applying for weeks..but not a single email or call? This is crap. HR should be put on firing line.

Hey 542, the person making the inquiry is already an employee. They are looking to move internally, rather than to be placed on the chopping block. You would have seen that had you taken the time to read the persons entire inquiry prior to mouthing off.

From my understanding all jobs hiring were put on freeze.

Current employees are being laid off by the thousands every week and you have the nerve to ask how to get an interview?

Why cant HR open the posting exclusively for citizens for several weeks before they consider H1B's or other non citizens? They should explicitly state that fact on the job posting.
