Pssssst..... over here....... listen up...... the FIOS gig is over.... the very guys who placed the infrastructure and installed the service are gone. alot laid off. verizon vice presidents and bob mudge came to Pittsburgh PA to the "79 north" garage location near Sewickley PA and told the laid off people "VERIZON HAS NO INTENTION OF EVER BRINGING YOU BACK." now the Bethel Park and Monroeville offices of verizon are also closing down.
Verizon is now 'deregulated' in most of Pennsylvania, no more rules to follow........ customers wait 7-8-9 days for a repair visit becasue all the techs who are left are working 12 hour days installing garbage fios equipment.
..........70% of the workforce here is on some kind of medical restriction or has been hurt or injured on the job.
The upper brass has ABSOLUTELY no idea how to run a service business. all they know how to do is sell YOU another cell phone case...charger....CLA....etc if you bitch about verizon's garbage wireless service they will say that YOU need to buy a new handset to fix the issue.
Now shamooo wants to convince you that you need his 4G LTE so your corn and tomatoes can talk to you when you are not home....... lol.....
This is the "talent" that the C class execs tell you they need to pay for with million dollar salaries to dousche bags like the J Crew Mr Millennial marketing moron.
Top all of this with verizon's current debt load and you can almost here the toilet flushing as your career circles the bowl..........

This is Peduto doing his union thing so that itll look like he did his part. WE HAVE NO ONE LEFT TO HELP US. Move on people, no one is going to stop Verizon from what theyre doing. They will posture and bluff, but in the end....they are all the same. It is in no politicians interest to support those with no moolah. Capitalism will eat us all. Bon appetit!
Verizon will take the fines over building out the fiber to meet its obligation. This is just a slap on the wrist to this group of bandits. Lowell and his thugs are killing this company. I don't understand how the shareholders allow them to be in charge. They must all be short term investors. This leadership has no vision of what this company could be. It's already profitable. Almost by accident, since all they wanna do is kill the landline side. Instead of turning it around, it just keeps getting worse.
If not now soon will one of the most hated corporations.
The jobs we were offered were 500 miles across the state to Philadelphia with no relocation assistance. We were told on a Wednesday to choose a garage in phili and report there on Monday or we would be laid off. How do they expect you to just uproot your family? Even if anyone would do that, you would still have the constant threat of a layoff at your new work location. So here's the scenario, on Wednesday, call a real estate agent, put your house on the market, forget that you were born and raised in Pittsburgh. Leave all your family and friends. Pull your kids out of the school they were in. Travel to phili to find a new house to rent. Hope you can still afford to pay your old mortgage plus new rent. You and your kids scenes of security is now gone. 6 months later, VZ lays u off. Now your stuck in a city you never wanted to be in, your kids are in a new school that they hate. I can go on and on but this is seriously what Verizon expects you to do. It's Unrealistic.
Pittsburgh continues to press Verizon for Fios service
With the city continuing to press Verizon to comply with a cable franchise agreement it signed in 2009, Mayor Bill Peduto met this week with workers and union leaders representing 44 local technicians the company laid off this past summer as it started contract negotiations with thousands of employees in six states.
“Verizon has not lived up to the commitments that are under the franchise agreement, whether it is how the system is being put in and where the system has been completed. And under that agreement there are fines that will have to start going into effect,” Mr. Peduto said Wednesday. “At the same time, instead of hiring more people to be able to finish this job, they’ve been laying off more people, and these workers now, who could have been completing the commitment that Verizon owes the city of Pittsburgh, find themselves unemployed.”
Verizon was supposed to offer its Fios fiber-optic Internet, television and phone service to the entire city by now under the 2009 agreement, which allowed the cable and Internet giant to compete with Comcast in Pittsburgh.
Tom Crawford, west region vice president of Communication Workers of America Local 13000, which represents 39,000 Verizon workers in Pennsylvania and five other states, said Verizon isn’t interested in expanding Fios, is abandoning its older traditional copper wire network and is pushing customers to Verizon Voice Link. That system uses a wireless device about the size of a router to provide phone service.
“If you live in the city, many residents still cannot get Fios,” Mr. Crawford said. “They are refusing to expand on the Fios build, but they still have to fulfill the obligations they have to cities.” The union has filed numerous grievances against the telecommunications giant, he added.
City lawyers met with Verizon officials this month, but no fines have been assessed, Mr. Peduto said.
A Verizon spokesman would not make company officials available for interviews or discuss the meeting with the city.
“While we will not discuss the particulars of our meeting with the city, we do feel the meeting was positive, and we demonstrated Verizon’s compliance with the agreement,” John Bonomo, the spokesman, wrote in an email. “With respect to your question about our technicians, each was offered to take a similar job in another location, but they all declined. We believe we have the appropriate staffing levels to meet customer-service needs.”
