Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Contribute or Leave

Guys, I have been glancing at this forum from time to time and it is amazing how much crap is being posted here. There are many people who are genuinely concerned for their careers. It doesn't help to post random nonsense that benefits no-one. If you are unhappy, go find another job, that's what I did a few months back. (You are not married to any company.) Just don't leave filth here when this site is being used for information by those that really care, that defeats the purpose of this forum.

Please give an example of what you refer to as "filth". I can tell by your grammatical style who you are. The posts are legitimate voices of concern. If you don't agree you are free to start your own website. Show respect.

Yes..this guy has his brain in his knee. What is he doing on this board at first place. He will loose his job in next 4 months. He will be fishing the mud crabs in his backyard to make a living. He is a crow with broken leg and a nose.

For every H1b you allow into the country, multiple Americans loose the jobs. H1b has restrictions that they can only perform a speciality Job like IT or engineering. Their dependents like spouses are allowed to work without any restrictions replacing any american like bank teller or Walmart clerk. Most of the dependent that enter have engineering degrees. So they will usally replace high earning americans. So don't think that the H1b is capped at 80k people per year. It will be.much higher if you count their spouses and other dependens.

"Contribute or leave" - that's what I've been saying about most of the H1B's for years for so many of them are young and inexperienced and bring nothing to the table.

222 - I'm not sure there's any way to prohibit offshoring of jobs, except through public condemnation. However, hiring H1Bs and not paying them the prevailing wage, is not legal.

There is lot of complain about h1b here, but are these the real problem? At least h1b holders come in legally , pay taxes here, spend in our ecconomy . What about all the off shoring that is happening ?? It is convinuently taking jobs out of our country , no one paying taxes , no one spending in our ecconomy . Is our government going to realize how big a hand this off shoring is playing in unemployment?

122 good post! I for one don't think it would have been possible for Verizon to have dumped so many of us if they didn't have an H1B plan in their back pocket. So, from my perspective, the H1Bs are stealing our jobs. And it is our government that is behind this! So our only choice is to start beating on the walls of congress to get this changed. No one complains, then no changes.

@108, good, keep it up. I'm serious. So many people want to just accept that we have no power in this situation. But we do. Sometimes it just comes down to making enough noise. We just have to keep putting pressure on the media to cover this, and on our local officials, politicians, business owners, anybody who is willing to publicly say "This is not right and it is not legal." Its a hot button issue right now, the new York times just did a feature on hb1 violations, so if enough people are calling the news, with specific, verifiable info, then you are , in effect, handing them a relevant, news worthy, David vs Goliath story involving a HUGE company. A company who is already getting bad press for their FIOS failure and strike talk. I've seen situations in the past, issues or events that no one seemed to care about. I know from firsthand experience that you can go from NO ONE knowing about it, to multiple state and city officials trying to get their moment on air to give their 2 cents, the law enforcement, the DA, 3 local stations competing for sit downs, and I am telling you, it was the result of phone calls. Phone calls and information, saying the right things in the right way to the right people.

Yep if you are no longer working for the company what does it matter to you? Some of us have a lot invested into this company and feel it is wrong just to be kicked to the curb or replaced by a H1B! Don't like it don't read it! I hope the ones that are over 50 that received the axe do file complaint with the EEOC and call their elected officials. Im still with the company and have been emailing and calling every person I can to shed light on the total abuse of the H1B visa crap. Good luck on your new job 015.

I do agree that if you don't like it, just leave, as no one is making you come here and read the crap. But at the same time, it would be nice if those juvenile posters who have absolutely nothing intelligent or mindful to post would stop diminishing the credibility of the site.

015 is example just one more wanting to dictate what can be said. Go somewhere else if you don't like it here. I'm finding useful info here that I was unaware of.

Stop nonsense. We know exactly what kind of unfair practices that a company is following. I have just now filed a complaint with EEOC. Without this forum I would not have taken that initiative. Looks like you are a PR guy. If you are out of this company and happily with a different company then your posting is most unwarranted for.

Guys this site is kind of like Twitter, you get whatever it's hot that day. So, if it's a slow news day, you get shit. Wait until next week, I bet there will be a ton of useful posts. I wrote to admins here and asked them if they can allow us to rate posts, that should help with filtering out junk, if something is junk, let's collectively bury it.

I've requested this multiple times since this juvenile bs started happening in the past couple of months. It's extremely aggravating to sift through the garbage. My only solution is to come here infrequently. It's a shame to ruin this resource, which was actually useful not that long ago
