To all the company patsy's saying a Class Action is fruitless. IT'S A LIE ! Regardless of signing a separation agreement, you have the right to file a complaint with the EEOC. One hour wait time, they hear your basic complaint and then decide if you have grounds. In my case they took my complaint and assigned me a case number. I then filled out paper work and mailed it in. The Federal Law preventing age discrimination supersedes anything you sign with Verizon. I strongly recommend that everyone who has been Rif'd, and feels that age and years of service prompted their dismissal, file a complaint with the EEOC. Former NYNEX has been convicted of this before in the 90's. A Class Action Law Firm will be crawling out of the wood work to find us, when the EEOC gets enough complaints and performs their own investigations. The Rif'd Management from the 90's all had to be restored to Employment with full back wages. Google the NY Times article on NYNEX Age Discrimination Law Suit. Good Luck, and file your complaints. The Severance package does not over rule your Constitutional Rights.

Look at the ages of people let go and kept too. It is deliberately made hard to read (which I think might be illegal in itself, it is supposed to be easily understandable by anyone)... I've not looked yet but someone else had said he was seeing some questionable figures with regard to old vs young and who was let go.
I intend to file, but I want the check in my hand first. VZ has had a history of burning employees over 50+. The thinking is that the kids that are on Mom and Dad's insurance, and phone plans, and living at home - will suddenly lurch forth and begin to pay significantly more than their parents for phone service. They will soon find out what fools they were.
