In IY they are trying to reduce the minorities, but in the process laying off senor US Citizens of Asian origin. Again they are in violation of age discrimination. And in violation of immigration law by keeping visa folks while citizens are shown the exit door.
I dont think GTE background matters anymore. What matters us are you minority> H1B are mostly Indians and as such they are classified as minority so they boost Federal and Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton quotas. Laying off white males also increases minority quota percentages. Couple that with cheaper hourly rate for H1B and its win win win for Verizon.
Consider it a blessing if you go to Frontier. They treat their employees much better.

well if you are supporting west only and west is moving to FTR and you aren't, yes you are pretty much screwed. Anyone with half a brain knows this. The rest of the statement about GTE hire, blah blah is absolute nonsense.
Based on what we have seen so far, there seem to be some rationale in this prediction.

There are less GTE'rs and Ex-Cons by the day, but there are more than handful still left.
We will see. There are a couple of GTE managers in our general area. One has decided to retire at the end of the year and as of this posting I have not heard what is going on with the other manager. Not sure either is ready to retire.
