Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Working at Verizon Stores

Hello All - a former Circuit CIty employee here - I think I might have an opportunity to land a job in one of Verizon stores (LA area) - can someone chime in about any gotchas or if you have any pearls of wisdom to share. I am in school right now but I am looking to work (or should I say make money) as much as it's possible. Please let me know.

You should go for the job. There will be some consolidation in stores but it might be gradual and over a period of time. Such dynamics are common in any business. As our consumer habits change, we will have to change accordingly. Another note- Apple started selling and leasing the devices directly. And they might have to increase the support staff as well.

Don't ignore it. Stores are ok for now. Will they stay that way? Impossible to know. With all the focus on millennialis my personal opinion is some stores will close eventually. I think it will be a long time before the company moves to a completely online model, but to say stores will remain unaffected is unrealistic in my opinion. I will also say every year the demands on sales reps get harder, while the pay decreases. Overall would i in good conscience recommend it? No.

Advice #1 - just ignore all of the negativity posted here. It should not impact stores.
