Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Directors and above are paid very well. Could they all have taken a 50% cut for 1year to avoid this bloodbath.

During the Great Depression. All employees of AT&T went on a 4 day work-week. All shared the pain. A lesson can be learned from the sacrifices of people who then, worked for a great company and lived in a "great country". Unfortnunatly this prevailing consciousness no longer exists. We are my friends, as a company and a nation, in trouble.

Why would anyone agree to a paycut without job security? The only employees with any type of job security are those covered by the union or some EMEA employees that have job protection via their country's laws. Most at Verizon work with the understanding that the ax can fall at anytime.

Besides, the pay differential between associates and Directors isn't as large as you would expect.

That would mean they were NOT selfish greedy B@stards. All the upper mgmt in this company cares about is $$$$. What a disgrace. Thank God I am in the union. At least they would have to layoff by seniority, not just keeping the pets and kiss asses.
