Verizon Communications Inc. is exploring a sale of its enterprise assets, according to people familiar with the matter, as the largest U.S. wireless carrier seeks to focus on its core business. The assets, which could be worth as much as $10 billion, would include the business formerly known as MCI, which provides landline and Internet services for large business customers, as well as Terremark, its data center unit, the people said this week.

Every one has a smart TV and several ipads. FIOS like connection is almost as important as a smart phone for residential consumer household.
Sorry to say but if you want to see real retard management just look at the Verizon Wireless, The entire wireless is plague with politics, department of 20 employees have one director three manager and 9 supervisors

We bought MCI and now selling it. We bought Terremark and now shelling it, we bought EdgeCast, OnCue, and AOL; we will shoveling them soon.

Hey way don't they sell off the Data Centers wireless and Network, sell it all , go ahead. and get out of leased buildings, oops now, sell all owned buildings and get into more leased buildings, even rent the furniture and laptops. You can then foldup and dispense the with the company very rapidly, make it all liquid. what core business ? Go90 ? yeah, that will build a rosy future. Go90 will be another VZ failure, and buying AOL was a laughing stock on the floor that I worked on. We took it as being a harbinger of bad things to come ,and so they did, tkae a hike Lowell, and take your millennial men and women with you, and good luck to you.

@195175 Obviously you have no idea that your precious wireless device is only wireless to you as the end user. There is a whole wired/fibered backbone network behind the scenes carrying that wireless traffic. That network is built and maintained by the unionized wireline employees. And Fios is superior to anything else out there, but the overpaid execs refuse to build it out, even in areas where they were obligated to. You're welcome for the free lesson.
Actually it sounds like they are rationalizing, re-tooling and restoring some liquidity to me. I was there for a long time too. Despite being 'one Verizon', there were still many cultures, tribes and silos. While it sucks to be us, right now, we still own a lot of that stock and the company was definitely buldging in certain places. We were unlucky.
Wireline and FIOS are dying technologies. How many people do you know that still have a landline? How many people do you know that have FIOS? Now let's compare that to wireless. ALL of the people I know have one, if not two wireless devices. Wireline was singing the death knell. If they didn't buy Wireless they'd be out of cash by now. Unfortunately the same people the ran Wireline into the ground are now running Verizon Communications into the ground. It's not the unions, it's not the labor, it's the leadership. I had a good run, but I've seen some of the most useless people in the world in leadership positions.
