Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

The office environment in Chicago (Schaumburg) has been bad for years.

For several years now Management has made the work environment in Schaumburg very very stressful. Finger pointing is the number one way to start to address a problem. Micro-manage all the employees, Over load employees with work and then limit number of hours we can work (many of us work several hours each week that we cannot put down on our time card because it would put us over our limit). The Director (Larry Rick) has screwed up the environment in the office and market so bad it will take YEARS to repair. All his direct reports (managers) are scared mice that manage in his same style. Shame on all of them for treating people as they do. Not one of them has a spine to stand up with and treat people with respect.

The Bloomington, MN Network office is just as poisonous - poor upper management leads to finger pointing and constant friction in the office. Really a shame. The WRONG people are being promoted and become leaders who bully the front line workers. HR doesn't seem to care either.

It is illegal and against labor laws to have employees work and not pay them for it. I was once told by HR that all hours worked need to be paid. An example is working through lunch but recording that you took a lunch break -ILLEGAL. Report to the EEOC and see that behavior change.

Agree with you on this one that mentally spread like untreated cancer throughout the MWA....the teamwork aspect and evwryone in it together was thrown out the window and replaced with who can webthrow under the bus and blame this on....they expected employees who didnt get paid ot to work noghts and weekenda and 15 or more houts a day.....glad it is over...the stress will kill you
