Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

An open letter to VZ shareholders to act NOW.

We bought MCI and now selling it. We bought Terremark and now shelling it, we bought UpLynk, EdgeCast, OnCue, and AOL; and we will be shoveling them soon. Oh..another one was the classic scarred RedBox. Don't miss the mother of all blunders - though we had right to first refusal, we bought Vodaphone pie, in a haste.

These debacles are enough for us, the shareholders and employees to ask Lowell and his team along with the spineless board to step down, albeit too late.

Right. Being vested simply means we can keep the match if out employment with the company ends. I'm going to call Fidelity and get the details about moving it once and for all.

You can't move all of them in one fell swoop, you are only allowed to move a certain percentage at a time. This to prevent dumping VZ stocks if you know of something that is about to go down.

After either three (or maybe it's 5) years, you're fully vested and can do whatever you want with the company match. It's yours. End of story.

Too much conflicting info here. When I tried a few years ago I couldn't move the company match portion. I'll have to look I to it again.

You can only move the company match after you are 50.5 years old.

You can absolutely move your VZ stocks into other funds. I've been doing that on a monthly basis now as I don't believe in the long term prospect of this company. There could be a service year restrictions, however, as one may need to be here for 3 years to fully vest the 401k match and annual stock grant.

you cannot move the VZ stock (company match) into another option in the 401K.

I tried and few months ago, and it was rejected.

"Verizon is positioned to be the FedEx of the digital age," says Verizon chief Lowell McAdam.

FedEx is number 3 in the world. Why wouldn't you aspire to be NUMBER 1????

Oh that's right UPS is UNION.

Those of us still working there can't dump the vz stock in the company match 401k. Anyone know a way while still employed? I tried to toll it into an IRA several years ago and could only do the portion I had contributed, not the co match.

Here is a piece of advise to shareholder, pull back your investment when you still have a time, don't wait for VZ to go belly up
