VZ Wireless workers have turned their noses up at unionizing. A union contract would have given you protection and a voice. At least you would have some political clout. Now you have nothing .

Northeast sold? LOL- look at the numbers....The Northeast is HAPPY that Verizon has sold off the less profitable states!! I didn't say losers, they were still making money, but not as much as the Northeast does. $1B invested in Florida would take over 2 years to recover whereas it only takes about 14 months to recover in the Northeast. Why wouldn't Verizon want to double their money??
At least when you were in the union you have a choice when to leave Verizon. Working for management and Verizon is liking like playing Russian roulette every day. You should not be mad at the union, you should be mad at Lowell McAdam . I see the boss 's running around scared they can't even do their job correct. The union is not the enemy. Do union gets fair wages and benefits for its employees, and working conditions. This is what you get for being loyal to Verizon.
Funny how the non union employees still believe the VZ BS. Fact is there are union employees working since the Bell System. Not bad. I know managers who are so nervous that one day they'll be called in and told your no longer needed. Sure you have 2 months to find a job. Where? And whats to stop you from relocating, settling down then being told your rif'd. It's happened. But you keep believing McAdams. He's relaxing in his Mendham Mansion counting his millions while you sweat your very existence wondering uf that tap on your shoulder is a friend or for.
The only answer is unionizing. VZ has teams of lawyers and lobbyists working hard everyday to screw you out of everything you've worked for. You don't stand a chance on your own. United is the only way we can fight to keep good jobs here. Don't listen to the corporate hacks bashing the union. Your family deserves a chance.

The company is the bad guy in this case and the workers are blaming each other. It's sad. We fight and the Rich get richer. Same thing happens in American politics every day. I'm a union worker, but hold no grudge against non union employees, except for management.

It's better for the stock holders the more verizon dumps management . Verizon wireless needs to downsize. Wireline not only built and paid for the wireless network, it continues to do so. Long live unions.
No, unions can't stop your division being sold off or prevent you from ever being laid off. But with a contract in place at least you know what is spelled out and what has to be followed.
And you have recourse. The ability to force your employer to go into arbitration , force your CEO to testify in arbitration and enforce your contract terms. As what happened in 2003 when verizon was forced to rehire with full back pay and benefits thousands of layed off employees .
No wonder verizon fights so hard to keep the unions out. And unfortunately some brainwashed people believed them. Now I wonder if they regret the anti union positions they held
Verizon already offered the union more money. The union is going to bring the company to their knees. Verizon they are dumping management so they can pay the union people.
Unions to be laid off in Feb and outsourced to comsys. Hence why no contract has been agreed on.

They have nothing? Really? Narrow minded union shill. How about having 2 months to find a job within Verizon and the ability to put Verizon training and experience on their resumes which actually means allot. People have lost their jobs and we have idiots coming here promoting the unions. Unions really did great by the people that made Wonder Bread, didn't they? And I'm sure when they lost their jobs the wonderful union would have refunded their dues? Do they cure cancer too? I know unions must cure ED because of all the mindless drones that have hard on's for them. Get over yourselves, people don't need unions. They needs to get off their fat lazy asses, call their government rep and lobby to have companies like Verizon punished for sending jobs overseas and rewarded for keeping jobs here. But that won't happen either because the sheep are to busy complaining and not doing a thing about it.
I think those union folks in those states still have jobs. These layoffs are taking place and the media is silent. At least the union would be out front getting national attention. Pressuring politicians and counting the jobs that they are attempting to shipped out.

Really, did "being in a union" prevent Verizon from getting rid of the landline business in California, Florida, and Texas? No. The Northeast will be sold too, guaranteed. being in a union is no guarantee of anything.

There are several of your coworkers dumping on the unions for doing zero to keep their job safe. "support has been nonexistent" ...many were let go without a fight from the mighty union
What ever your response is, I will just reply with "Soooo, the Union can't save your job?"
