I was laid off in February, 27.5 years of service, ex-GTEr. When the merger happened, on the wireless side, you had 4 sets of pay scales...GTE was highest, then Airtouch, then Bell Atlantic, then PrimeCo. I took some time off and am now starting my search. I miss the people...not the stress. Good luck to everyone reading this board.

I am very sorry to hear that they are getting rid of great people. Hold your head up HIGH. I am sure you can handle this set back. Good luck and stay positive ! I am a tech. If we did not have the Union we would all be gone. They only want the select few.

I was laid off after 18 years of loyal service to VZW this past March. It's a tough pill to swallow, but stay positive. There's a lot of opportunity for people with our experiences from a company like VZW. Be aggressive and strategic about networking. You're post is very positive. That's the mindset to have. I took it very personal at first, but bounced back. Best wishes on your new chapter. Now you get to re-invent yourself.
