Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Medical and Dental insurance coverage.

Until when will our health care coverage last. Will it be available only until Dec 31st or will we have an option of having coverage for self and dependents in 2016 (if coverage will be available for 2016, what will be my cost involved?)

If you part of the RIF, do yourself a favor: READ ALL OF THE DOCUMENTATION, CONTACT HR, CONTACT VZ WIRELESS ABOUT YOUR DISCOUNT, CONTACT BENEFITS TO ENSURE HOW LONG YOUR MEDICAL,DENTAL AND VISION BENEFITS REAMIN IN FORCE.(I was riffed in Feb 2015 and mine remained in force from February thru November at no charge, just the normal deductible and copays) Also, you can still maintain your voluntary elected life insurance elections for the span of the severance period, but you will have to send in a monthly period. Make sure you contact the above departments a few times to question things as you may receive a different answer depending on the day and who you speak to. Do not be timid about calling the departments over and over to get information. IT IS YOUR RIGHT TO QUESTION EVERYTHING.

It depends on your severance agreement and years of service. My coverage stayed in effect for 8 months after I was laid off from VZW. I had 18 years with them. After it expires you then transition over to COBRA.

They will subsidize COBRA benefits for the length of time of your severance period. COBRA runs for 18 months so I believe after your severance period is over, until the 18 months are up, you would then pay for COBRA.

They will subsidize few months under cobra, after that period as per your severance, you will pay full price, no dental or vision
