"Verizon is positioned to be the FedEx of the digital age," says Verizon chief Lowell McAdam.

FedEx is number 3 in the world. Why wouldn't you aspire to be NUMBER 1????

All depends. Lowell overpaid Vodaphone and now hit with price wars has to save face. Basically raped the wireline to enhance wireless. Now basically wants to throw wireline to the dogs. He's pilfered enough money for himself. Union and even wireless employees should get balls and strike for a week. Write your government reps and demand they investigate the jobs going to India. Even suggest they break up Wireless.

VzB is not the East wireline...it is the old MCl......Verizon would sell it in a heartbeat if they find the good price........Vodafone debt again.....killing us.

They sold Florida because they didn't own the whole network like they do in the Northeast, interexchange fees were willing them.

Old BA/GTE footprint is all that is going to be left, same plan for a while now...

Verizon likely won't sell wireline assets, says analyst firm

Network needed to support future 5G wireless rollouts.

November 6, 2015 | By Sean Buckley

Rumors may be swirling that Verizon (NYSE: VZ) is going to sell its wireline network assets, but a new Barclays report suggests that the service provider will not do so as the facilities are a key enabler for its wireless services.

According to a Barclay's report, Verizon management said during a sell-side analyst event hosted by the telco in their New Jersey offices that they could use the wireline assets, particularly the fiber assets as a backhaul mechanism for current 4G and upcoming 5G network rollouts.

"Verizon management highlighted that they are not interested in selling the remaining wireline assets as they now view ownership of fiber assets as key to delivering high-quality wireless services," said Barclays.
