Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

EEOC: 1-800-669-4000 Companies get busted for Age Discrimination by the EEOC all the time. Verizon shouldn't have made it SO EASY to prove.

When it comes to a class action age discrimination suit, it makes no difference what you had to sign in order to get your severance. You can call the EEOC to verify that. When Verizon was NYNEX, they lost a huge age discrimination suit. Apparently, vz's "magical millenials" and the J Crew Jerk Off are too young to remember that, otherwise, they wouldn't have premiered their "Millenials are the Best" video the DAY BEFORE firing so many veterans . As other RIF'd employees have said, all you have to do is file a complaint with the EEOC and be able to provide verifiable details. THEY will investigate, and they will file their own lawsuit if they feel laws were broken. It won't be hard to get a lawyer to take on a class action suit against vz once an EEOC case has been made public. Call the EEOC! We CAN get a class action suit and we CAN win!!!

I was referring to the tone of the video, reinforced by specific phrases. The message, stressed throughout was:

Millenials are the future.

We are changing to better serve millenials, therefore, we will be accommodating them.

We need to make ourselves more attractive to millenials.

Millenials are the only group that matters.

You make a video like that, invite your employees to watch it, then start firing mostly over 40/50 yr old employees immediately thereafter? All I'm saying is, they certainly didn't make it hard to draw conclusions, and I think the EEOC would determine that it was at least worth investigating.

Having a video on the demographic shifts in the US is hardly evidence of age discrimination when it comes to layoffs. I'll admit that it doesn't feel nice to be told that the company thinks older customers are less important (if you happen to be one of them), but that's very different from saying older workers are not important.

I have heard of some folks who retired the last day of August due to fear of being laid off. Do you think the EEOC would include in a class action suit? They all had 30+ years with the company.
