AT however, the company believes that it can handle any employee reductions through normal attrition as workers retire or quit. "We haven't made any announcements and this is something that's still several years off," said an AT&T spokewoman when asked by FierceWireless about potential job cuts. "We believe we can handle any reductions in large part through attrition, as employees retire or otherwise leave the business," she added.

How true, that's why they put a freeze on transfers so no one can relocate to another position, apparently there are openings for positions within the company but only for contractors or new hires on jobs we can't have. Why is that? Why would jobs be filled by new hires and we can't transfer. Is the company looking out for us? I think not. Why isn't the union stepping in? They want to get rid of the senior employees, senior management and hire employees in India or China so they can pay them the lowest wages imaginable and have no pension or insurance, saves the company big money of course. Why do you think they put out a notice to take VSP so they can back fill those jobs with some surplussed employees temporarily until they get the boot once again. I'm just waiting to get surplussed or get the VSP. I would rather see a surplussed employee get my job rather than some one off the street. The new hires have no future here. Where is the union when we are paying dues for them to watch this company. Doesn't seem like they are doing anything anymore but taking our money. Living in America.

No one is leaving, job elimination under the pretense of reorganization, "this is a charade", the company redistributed the work other business units, and many were replaced by newbies without any experience, to date I don't know a single person thar was offered a new position with the company, reductions will continue.the company is just trying to bring the morale back into the office, with a corrupt HR , Seem like a paradox,. I 've seen many accomplished professionals loosing their jobs and forced out of the company, unfortunately the writing is on the wall...
