Is it just the east footprint or across the board?

Union contract states anyone hired before 2003 can't be laid off, the post 03'ers are fair game over here on wireline on the east coast.

How confirmed is the riff for next week? One would assume they would do it all in one day.

Eisp offer is Voluntary. No surplus has been declared. Only being offered to certain Inside people at this time.

If due to internal event no layoffs by me, external event then maybe but highly doubtful. Either way I am ok 15 months is all I need, and I will make it, that I am sure of!

Actually, associates are working without a contract not under the old contract. There is no contract in place, although it would be a legal nightmare for the company to RIF union folks. Thus the company has, instead, declared a major surplus across the footprint in all job titles for associates. Folks will be receiving an "offer" (mailed to residence) to vacate their position in exchange for said offer. Once all the offers are either accepted or rejected, the company will then tally up the numbers that remain, and at that point declare the official surplus and start letting associates go (based on seniority, etc).

Since there is still no agreement between VZ and CWA and we are working without a contract, for those of us "protected" in the prior union agreement against layoffs, can we be laid off or is that where the EISP comes into play?

If the associates are non union then they are moving targets.
