Laid off employees, is your management requiring you to physically report into your offices? Has that been toxic?

hearing different departments were told different things... I was told don't have to return to work unless I want to..(there's nothing to do now but look for another job) and other teams were told BAU. Office is a weird tense place. Plenty of pity stares because everyone knows who was let go...
