Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Vz wireline HR should consider RIFing these mgmt employees that are not eligible to do the UNION work, because of the Visa/h1b limitations.

Lol...

Mine is bigger than yours.... Typical management puppeting.

At least you can ask people if they want to supersize their fries when you get RIF'd

Yeah, trouble history. The only reason it has long trouble history is because you scrubb the job multiple times and blame the tech. Seen many times my tech letters on scrubbed jobs i never went out on. How about you give me that trouble job so i can fix it instead of scrubbing it and giving me new installs instead

Last contract i spent 2 weeks in same neighborhood fixing my managers "repairs". Customers were thanking ME!

I don't know what "real copper" repair is, but we had jobs that had a long history of failed repairs where the union techs said it could not be fixed and we figured it out.

This was common. I had customer thanking me for finally correcting the "real copper problems" that you guys didn't fix.

One time we came back to a failed repair. The union tech missed an obviously damaged drop which was shorting the line.

We dealt with buried cable problems with water seepage, had to reroute connections at the CO, had to sort out cross boxes where the union techs had miswired them.

Maybe it was just luck of the draw, but what I saw was shoddy work that preceded us.

Hey Mr Manager,

In response to you doing copper repair during the last strike. Good for you. I hope that you are proud that you did someone else job. The only problem is that you were given the most simple repair troubles that my Dog could do. You were not given real troubles. Try working in the cable. Try installing fios when the weather is not 75. Try doing real copper work and then you would see the real techs. Good luck getting Riffed. Maybe you should have been a tech. Oh wait, that would mean I would have to work for a living.

I did copper I&M during the last strike. It was not difficult and we cleared a lot more trouble calls per day than the union workers.

The difference was we were not padding the day to make the jobs looks tougher.

You guys think you're rocket scientists. You're not.

Most of the non-visa mgmt employees are trained to do the union job in the last 6 months. Employees that have visa restrictions can not be deployed into any type of job. Immigration and labor dept do not agree for such deployment. So VZ should let go all the visa based employees and should not touch any citizens.

I don't know about the VISA limitations, but the current managers on the Wireline side could never do a Service Tech. job. They have no clue what is involved and I can count on one hand the number of them who started out as an installer/service tech. All they are is puppets for the upper management. We are not in kindergarten. We are grown men and all we want is to get our work in the morning, go out and fix customers' problems, and leave us the hell alone. We do not need to be harassed day-in and day-out and that is all they do. I have had two managers that treated their techs with respect and believe me, it makes a huge difference. For those managers, the guys would do anything they could to get their jobs-per-day up so that the manager wasn't scolded by upper management... and they appreciated us for it. The majorty who constantly belittle and harass the techs., they don't want to do a thing to help that manager. Why, just so they can get thousands of dollars in bonus money? NOT!!!! You treat others the way you want to be treated.
