typo in last paragraph - Clear and UNambiguous terms. (I inadvertantly said 'ambiguous' because that's all we ever get from them. Make them promise in unequivocal terms that they will make this Priority Number One to not only cut the program by 2/3's, but also make corporations post each position for up to 6 months before filling it with an H1B/L1. Fees should be drastically increased and the money used to audit companies to ensure that the position posted and filled by an H1B/L1 does in fact reflect the work being done and that there were no Americans available for the job.

We must write letters to the candidates and to the papers and post on every forum that this program be ended immediately and that those candidates that do not agree are not worthy of being a leader of the American people because either they are for us or they are against us.
I was pleased that a question in the last debate actually touched on the H1B issue, but it should have been addressed to each and every candidate on the stage. And that goes for the next Democratic debate as well. As important as the problem is of illegal Mexican immigration, it has become a red herring to divert attention away from the Other Great Evil - that of legal immigration that is stealing the jobs of American Tech Workers.
Remember, in any discussion we have about H1B's, we must include the other great job stealer - L1 visas. Those allow a foreign worker to transfer from his employer's office in India to their office in the US and then be contracted out to VZW. It is abused as much, if not more, than H1B's. Both programs and the US companies that utilize them are traitorous. There are currently 800,000 H1B's in the US and who knows how many L1's. The vast majority were brought over in clear violation of the spirit of the law that says only the best may come. For each one of these less than average imports, an American has lost his job. It is beyond shameful.
Demand that each candidate address his or her position in clear and ambiguous terms. Are they for us or are they against us. Are they Americans or are they corporate shills?

The irony is Wallstreet journal writes in a recent article stating the H1b quota should be increated from 85K people per year to limitless number. Is there a real need? I don't think so. I am not sure why the senators increase H1b application fee to $100,000 from 2000. That will make sure only a really important person would be brought un.

It has gotten so bad that I have become pretty much a one-issue voter for the upcoming election. I will vote ONLY for the candidate - from either party - that unequivocally denounces the practice of hiring H1B and L1 non-citizens over equally qualified (and most often, MORE qualified) US citizens, and demands a serious and immediate curtailment of the program. Any candidate that wants to increase the number of visas, or even hold them at the current level, will not get my vote.
I agree 100%. HR should take a look at it this issue of citizen vs non-citizens discrimination in IT seriously.
It will be new this time. Nothing new so far because no one seriously thought about it all these years as it was easy to find an IT job and RIF package was considered a bonus. Now that IT is saturated it there will be a lawsuit.

Domestic IT has about 60% non-US citizens. Most of the involuntary RIFs always included close to 99% of citizens. Non-citizens are usally included based on the individuals request to get a package.
