I know some people who got one and some people who did not. I also hear it is changing after January from 2 weeks to one.

Heard from a very good source in BR HQ in NJ, Severance (VZ wireline and wireless) may change to (1) month pay PERIOD MAX in 2016. Regardless of years service. Get out now while the getting is good.
If they offer you a job, and you don't take it, you are gone without a package. Some were just severed with no job offers, they have until the end of the year to find something within the company. If not, they will get the package.
I know Sprint definitely changed severance from 2 weeks per year to 1 week per year, effective for anyone given notice after Jan. 2016. Hadn't heard anything about VZ.
Everybody gets severance if they are an employee.
