Why is there no national media coverage regarding these layoffs? Thousands have been impacted and it's surprising to see no national coverage. Is it because it's so widely spread across the country?

FYI. The Verizon news feeds that mgmt can have delivered to their desktop in the morning have been stripped of outside headlines. No notice, and is now just company announcements. Coincidence? I think not.
Plus, everyone is discussing it on here asking the same things over and over, rather than taking it to the media, the attorneys, and the unions. Getting advice and sharing experience is great, but if you want this public, go make it public and quit chatting amongst yourselves.
Reporters mostly regurgitate press releases, and the company hasn't made any announcements about this.

This site is kind of a media outlet. I saw the news on FB (that's how I landed here). Nothing on major TV networks. Only scarce news on the web.
If there were a real media in this country we wouldn't have the current clown as president.
Last year there was a pretty big layoff in October I was caught up in. I didn't see anything about it on the news then either. I'm sure this will be a yearly thing from now on.

Yes media gets their revenue from the companies like VZ spending on the advertising of their products. Most of the so called news in American media is just advertisements in disguise. Actually companies like Apple, VZ pay the media to publish about their products as news items. Try reading or watching news with this angle- and you will see that most of the news items are actually commercials in disguise.
Media is USA is a outlet for the establishment unlike other countries. This media only publish what the official spokesperson of a company or an organization tells them. There is no investigative journalism at all. They do not try to interview the people and find the facts and publish. This media is completely an official outlets to the company's because the advertisement revenue comes from these companies. No newspaper can take a risk of hurting the relationships with corporations.
