Just FYI 189307 the age discrimination act requires a company to provide a list of terminated employees with age and tenure and a list of ones who were not terminated age and tenure. I received that list and 85% of the employees let go were over 40. Those who have worked for the company for years and have earned the 2 and 3 percent increases...barely cost of living...earned every dime. To say those who make too much should be let go because they are costing the company money is very naive. I own stocks with this company so I receive every year how much the executives make including their bonuses stock options etc...since 2001 the CEOs have never made less than $30 million in bonus each year and a butt load of stock options. Not saying that earning a living by running a company shouldn't pay you...but not at the expense of affecting those employees who have dedicated their life to ensure that the company is successful so that they can live in a world that most of will not see based on that type of salary and bonus. Fair should be fair...unfortunately the greed of money is what will destroy this company and many...along with how we live in the country. I am glad to have had the years that I had with the company. I knkw that where I am is exaclty where I am suppose to be and trust completly in my faith. God bless all of you who are suffering lifting prayers.

People, yes this sucks. But just because a few veterans, working mothers, and older folk were fired does not mean they are against them. Seriously, look outside your small circle. If you are 50 years or older, I am sure most of your friends at the company are also 50 years or older. So it would seem that only old people are being let go. But that is just your narrow perspective. I my group, everyone who was let go was under 50 (which was about 5 people out of 20). The people they let go were people who were slow and couldn't get work done as efficiently. Those that were older and laid off, you do get paid more, so it makes total sense for the company to lay you off. You want the free economy, this is what you get. I hope you enjoyed the b*tch slap of the invisible hand. But i really do feel bad for everyone, just tone it down with "they are evil!" crap.

Agreed!!!!! As well as "working mothers" VZW always has the pro-working mother proaganda going strong...funny I know Cancer survivors and working mothers that just lost their jobs...guess they didn't really care...only if they got good press out of it...Just Like Obama!!!!
