Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

So you got laid off

We work for one of the best brand names in the nation. We gained knowledge on our journey working at Verizon. The experience that we absorbed by working at Verizon will make us marketable. Don’t take that lightly.

if you are impacted, (my understanding) you will be paid till end of Dec 31st, while you find a job internally and externally. Then your package starts - 2 weeks for every year. I also heard you will have insurance for 6 month there after. The situation sucks but it is a genorus offer. You found a job at Verizon- you will find another job; it may be a better one. KEEP YOUR HEAD UP. You earned it by working with other great Verizon people and being part of something big - use that to your advantage on your next journey.

For people that are not impacted - use every advantage that is provided - Verizon paid for my under grad and grad school. Along the way I took some external certifications. Few years ago I had some friends that were cut - it motivated me to get my act together. It is an insurance policy. USE IT, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT. It took me over a decade to take advantage of it.

You are Verizon Wireless strong - regardless of what you may feel now, you will be okay. It is a job and I wish you luck finding a new job. For now, kick back, open a good bottle of whisky, put some good tunes and enjoy it. Positive reinforcement for tomorrow starts with a relaxed night. Cheers brothers and sisters. It has been a pleasure working with you all. You had made working at Verizon fun (for the most part)

You most likely will not find anyone today that will pay you what you made at Vzw

Your years of hard work and education will not get what your worth

Is there a cap on the 2 weeks / year of service? Can someone explain insurance coverage during that period and what out of pocket $ will be required?

Today is the day to be upset. This post will be helpful in a week or two, but probably not today.
