Now, it's too late for us! This full-on resource massacre will turn into a slow bleeding torture by thousands of small cuts in 2016 and 2017.

Google Bruce kusnick and read some of his articles. Hollywood accounting , put all the debt on wireline from wireless. Convince everyone it's dead. Brilliant scheme. But it's just a scheme. Fooled you though
I've worked for wireline for years and now work for wireless... The union ruined the wireline business. Unions are nothing but a distraction. Employees are more focused on what they are entitled to then focusing on their customers and their performance. Union employees don't want to pay for benefits & most come to work for the love of money/benefits and not for the love of serving customers. Money is important but employees who love their job and have passion behind the purpose within the company are the employees who help businesses move forward. There are far more good employees than bad but unfortunately the rotten apples make it bad for the sweet. I love Verizon and I understand that business is business and if Verizon let me go tomorrow I would still be thankful for all the experiences the company has provided me. I know that Verizon is not the end all be all and that with everything I've learned with the company I can take those skills and be a value add else where. We are in a tough industry, Verizon is not the only company who provides wireless/wireline services, just 15 years ago Verizon owned the market, so to ensure we stay competitive things like this unfortunately have to happen. Creating a union is signing up for failure....most wireless employees know this which is why they didn't support.

Unionize? Great idea - the only part of the company that is profitable is the non-unionized portion, so let's unionize Wireless and ensure the demise of a company that still employs 150K people and supports hundreds of thousands of retirees and their families. Brilliant.
Nothing would help us. We've grown so big, so slow, so fat, so clumsy, this had to be done. I very much disagree with how they approached the problem, the speed, the choices, etc. but at the same time I guarantee you that 90% of Wireless folks would agree that something had to be done. Look at the Areas, Regions, layers, and more layers of management, decision makers, directors without responsibilities, VPs with a handful of direct reports, all excesses and disregard for financial discipline. This was sustainable due to our margins, and we had healthy margins. Yet, the suits in the ivory tower know that the party is over, there is more and more competition going after our margins, the pressure is building up and it will reach an inflection point min Q2 or Q3 of 2016. That's why they moved now and the axe they dropped on us was sharp and heavy. I know that nothing said here will help folks who were let go, many of my close and not-so-close friends were let go yesterday, however I felt I had to provide my view here. Good luck and God bless.
