So we are wireless with no Union to protect us.... Does anybody remember when the unions would show up outside and they would talk us out of speaking with the union rep... If we had... Would we be getting the ax today? This is crazy...
But there is life after Verizon. It's just a rough thing that occurs.... At the most terrible time...
None is safe
There is a rumor that several of band 6 will have role changes and title changes in wireline. Any thoughts?
Wireline RIF is slated for Nov 5th. Wireless has been led to believe they are they Golden Children of Verizon, but we are all one company. Even VzB is getting hit. So put your big girl and big boy panties and undies on and hold on. This is the beginning of the end as this is just the tip of rhe iceberg. Dust off your resume and keep it updated. It's simply business and our executives are running it into the ground. It's your choice to stay or leave so make a decision even if you survive the RIF.
Unions have no place in wireless. Unions are not a safe haven, I would not want to be part of any organization that would torture me if I decided I no longer wanted to be part of it. Unions make sense for factory jobs back in the day, and police now... to protect their safety. This doesn't make sense at a wireless or wireline company. Don't drink that toxic Kool-Aid.
Landline has had non-stop riffs for 10 years. Yes, some union people are safer, but there are a lot of non-union people there. Companies make changes all the time. It's terrible when you're in the wrong place at the wrong time, but don't act like you're the only ones who have experienced layoffs. It's a fact of life.
Why the Irvine call center Reps never voted in the union is beyond me. They'd have jobs now if they did.
Our day comes on 11/5, rumors for IT wireline are 20%. We have had a rif for at least the past 10 years, some are larger than others. The one two years ago we had to train our indian replacements two weeks before the rif. This one is just a general reduction... look for this annualy some larger then others.
Yea they are safe . So it seems.
