Think our office was first. Last week ~150 people were laid off. Some were given packages and/or last day of 11/20. Some were advised they can reapply for their jobs as the team/dept is being downsized and the positions restructured. Lots of open positions in Verizon careers.

They are closing one of the Telematics offices acquired in the Fleetmatics/Telogis purchase for over $3B and laying off 160+ employees to cut costs. Sounds like a good use of money and loss of talent!
My telugu friends, is this true?

Why isn't there a single picture of an Indian on Verizon Telematic website? We are treated like cow dung.
Hmmm.....Flipped to India? 80% of IT were on shore Indians before Jan 14

I keep at it, and the minute that I find myself speaking to the 7/11 crowd I immediatey ask to be transferred to a stateside customer representative.
I think previous poster referring to Jan 18 must have meant Thursday January 14th. I heard 70% let go. Level 1 support seems to have flipped to India. Curious how customers will react.
On Jan 18, Verizon Telematics laid off about 180 people from its IT division. However, it was expected when the new management came last year and they focused on cutting people first. The severance package was reasonable but the way the directors called the employees one by one to their room and told them that they were fired was quite rude indeed. Everyone was too anxious whenever a director came out from their room to call the next one. This process should have been nicely handled by the HR.
Another round of layoffs 11/19?
150 bodies account for 30% of vz telematics?
My last day is 11/20, I will take severance, I am sick and tired of this layoff game and constant pruning of the workforce. Guys, this is not normal, there are many smaller companies who are more employee friendly and provide equally good benefits or pay. I've had it with VZW...
