I was called about 2 hours ago to come in on my off day for a meeting tomorrow. When I asked about the details of the meeting I was told it would be discussed tomorrow. I am aware of many meetings today that did not result in people being laid off. Am I over reacting on this? or does it seem like I could be possibly laid off tomorrow.

Wireline employees get a 10% discount on accessories. When I showed my VZ ID card when paying, the associate said (out loud in front of customers) Ohh, you are from the other-side, WE (meaning VZW) are the ones bringing in the money" ..I never forgot that. I did not bother to report him. So VZW, I feel your RIF pain.
I've been laid off 4 times. It's the fear of the unknown. It WILL be ok. I speak from experience! As an employee, you have great skills that can be utilized elsewhere. Maybe not in the industry. But, you will find another opportunity. One day you will look back, realizing that a really great moment in your life wouldn't have happened without this day. Stay strong. It will be OK. You have to know it wasn't you. Not performance related. Don't get caught up it that. Negativity will do you no good. Best of luck to you.
Start networking internally and externally immediately, that will be of immense help. Contact leaders of teams you might be able to transition to.
Stay strong !!!, if you are not layoff, it is time to start planning, another career/ job.. Etc, you MUST have a plan because if you don't , you will be part of someone else's.. We all need to have some type of control in our life's .
Now you all know how the folks in Wireline felt only has been happening for years. Welcome to the club. Guess your all not as untouchable as you thought. Uncle Lowell only cares about himself. To those of you left time to fight the Verizon monster. Unionize!!!
You have to always be prepared with what I call "Plan B" if you ever lose your job (which is Plan A.) Put your budget on paper and list the things you will cut if you have to start cutting. Figure out what your unemployment benefit amount will be and try to cut enough to equal that amount. Cut the unnecessary things in your life. You will feel better if you have a plan. You will not feel so helpless. And, start looking for other jobs online. This will make you feel much more in control during this out-of-control time. Good luck with that meeting!

I'm going to be honest and say that it does not look good for you tomorrow. 90% chance you will be laid off sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
You will most likey be made redundant tomorrow. Ask yourself why you need to come in on your off day if it was something other they would have told you on that phone call I am so sorry to hear this.
Depends on your position. They may just want to start talking about what to expect and what to say if questions come up from those who report to you.
Be faith and hope for the best whatever happens. Treat VZ as a looser and think that they are on a free fall and you will be happy to have jumped out early. If you are spared this time then seriously keep searching before April RIF.
Prepare yourself to be laid off, and consider it a blessing/borrowed time if you aren't tomorrow. Wake up tomorrow and know that whatever happens when you get to work, that you'll be aggressive in transitioning.
