Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

I am a mgmt employee. I now have a greater sympathy for the union workers who fight for their rights.

It will be unethical for any company to treat people like consumables. There should be some difference between toilet paper and employees. You can not let these so called leaders treat employees as livestock and apply demand/supply economics.

With Union work rules and job protections, the wireline side has struggled more then its cable competitors. What's good for the union worker is not good for the company, or employees who actually get things done, but lose their job to pay for concessions to the union.

Unions have a role, but there's a point where they exist only to extract money from the company, rather than adapt.

All I can say is that non union wireless employees get great benefits. Union should match us and call it a day. Dont like it? Get a job elsewhere. The union isnt needed. Seems like a child that wants to take their ball and go home. Well do that, we will just find a better ball to fill its place.

You're sadly mistaken if you think unions prevent companies from making business decisions that benefit the health and longevity of the company as a whole.

Anyone that has worked for a large company can identify duplication of work, beurocracy and some workers that simply don't add value. Over time it happens.

OK, better now than never, I am glad you realized that unions provide value and protect workers.
