Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Verizon has too many middle men. Each region has two retail directors and each DM has one assistant DM and only manages 6-7 stores. Cut them.

This post is so accurate. The assistant DMs and DMs are never in the store. The stores have low management and rep staff so we can afford to pay the salary for the DM and assistant DM, who work from home half the time. Eliminate positions such as assistant DM, district operations manager, district training manager and add staff to help the customers. You need a DM, Asst DM, Op MGR and trainer to handle 6 stores that are understaffed? You need multiple directors to lead these small markets? How many positions do you need at each corporate office around the country? The customer has long wait time and leaves because we have too many layers of management and staff everywhere but the stores. This is why Verizon has layoffs.

The floating managers is what I'm proposing to eliminate. Make the DMs handle the stress. My DM literally did nothing, even after there were numerous complaints about the store manager from staff and customers.

Not every region has 2 RD's. Granted, most do, but I'm unclear on what you're proposing. Do away with DM's? And DM's don't have "assistants". Some regions have Floating Manager's that are developmental positions, not assistants to DM's. I know a DM that has 8 stores and 130 employees. She's slammed constantly. If she were stretched any thinner she would be completely ineffective in her role.

We have 2 to 4 layers of management (this is on the Wireless side) that are completely uncessary
