If you are laid off, Verizon will let you use a service that helps with your resume, interviewing skills, etc. That service actually made my resume a lot better. They said to rewrite my resume by bullet-pointing accomplishments instead of just a long list my duties in previous jobs. Plus some other tricks that have worked. Also, when I have issues with my job search, a counselor will meet with me (I've met once. It was a good meeting). They have some online classes (I've taken a couple) and live classes at some locations (I'll probably take a couple). At first I didn't think I'd use the service, but it's been pretty helpful.

IF / When your are RIF'd , the transition services are part of the Severance Package (If Any). It is already paid for so may as well take it . NO GUARANTEES for finding or helping you find a job and they will let you know that on day one. If you have worked for VZ more than 15 years , the tools for finding a job has changed. You will appreciate the training the transition company provides. The classes are comprised TOTALLY of people who have been RIF'd across ALL industries. Lawyers, TV people, Social Media (No , Google, Twitter, Facebook are not safe jobs) , Accountants, ...HR people(not sorry for them).

They provide this service for active employees also. In fact, I got a corporate email about updating resume/life after Verizon/job searching, just a couple weeks ago. I'm getting the hint VZ.
