Wireless does have debt. Just sell wireline to support some of the 65 billion they borrowed. Plus by not having to consult Vodafone it makes it easier to divest that side of the business and make up capital.

Wireless has all the debt. Current VZ debt to equity ratio is about 9. Debt to equity ratio of 9 means that debt holders have a 9 times more claim on assets than equity holders.
The pure wireless companies like spirit are doing much worse. Vz and ATT are doing better than pure wireless companies because these two are more diversified.
@Anonymous185767 you are absolutely correct. Verizon doesn't build or maintain it anywhere other in the Northeast. We lease Fiber back haul from other companies from the Cells to the switches. We do have some pockets of Dark Fiber outside the Northeast. But mostly we lease it. Just lease it in the Northeast as we do now everywhere else in the country and get the wireline off the books. No need to own a fiber or wireline Network when we can pay someone else to do it.
@anonymous185760 is one of those "special" people that don't understand that his precious wireless traffic is not really wireless at all, there's really a huge copper/fiber network behind it. This network is union/wireline employee built and maintained. Same goes for Fios.
Nope. Get rid of Wireline completely. It's mainly in the Northeast. Rest of wireless in the country works just fine with out it. Of the 77k wireline emloyees 40k are Union all the Northeast. Dump it, and get rid of it. Why hold on to a small pocket when the rest of the country doesn't rely on it. Wireless is mostly lean compared to Wireline. It also runs much more efficient and has better results. No need to continue to hold this pocket in the Northeast of Wireline.
Damn auto correct, since wireless makes all the money, NO.
The wireline has more cost per headcount vs how much those headcount cost. Wireless will lose some but wirline will take the majority- if layoffs happen.
Since wireless names all the money, NO.
