Then, when vz is accused of failing to support the copper wireline infrastructure, it can show what appears to be factual evidence of how unprofitable the wireline business is. But a far more important reason to cook the books is the Q1 2016 results, which vz will provide to Wall Street. In the smoke filled back rooms of vz this is how the plan goes. If it's a bad quarter, take many of the big boys and girls of Wall Street to lunch and show them 1) just how profitable wireless is 2) what a lame duck wireline is 3) and for the coup de grace, show them just how much vz is saving by riffing people on the wireline side of the business. Eating foie gras and drinking Chateau Lafite Rothschild, the Wall Street insiders will be reassured that all is well and that vz is vigorously culling the Lilliputians on the wireline side as fast as is humanly possible. Another glass Irene? ( Irene Donner, named most powerful woman in banking last year). Oh! I shouldn't, as she stretches out her arm for a refill of Baron Rothschilds $90 a glass Chateau Lafite. Anyone for a cup of company koolade? Handed to each of us in a plastic cup, of course?

Who the F cares...rifed employees are gone in less than 3 weeks jagoff.
re: "Fortunately neither has ever occurred here because we have safeguards here and a credo that stresses ethics above all else."
Putting Verizon and ethics into the same sentence, now That is pretty funny.
2tro, you have a point. There's a difference between the highly illegal and punishable crime of accounting fraud that has occurred at other disreputable entities, and what you have labeled unethical behavior, which does not rise to that threshold, but has also occurred at other companies from time to time, and deserves no punishment.
Fortunately neither has ever occurred here because we have safeguards here and a credo that stresses ethics above all else.
That would be nice but don't bank on it. Unethical behavior is not illegal, but it is yet another slap at that idotic credo. The executive suite all like to talk the talk, but they have a real problem walking it. Pioneer lite.
sniff, sniff, sniff, I hope that's jail time I smell for some people here.
Well I guest this speaks to what the below article is saying. I guess the guy isn't wrong...

Wireline is also being Riff'd.
Very few Wireless are moving to wireline.
Sorry, but this is the truth.
I survived that last round, but the May Riff, may be my time.
