Has anyone else noticed in "about you", that now that they are RIF'ed their profile shows assigned to Wireline? Is this a one off? Could this be a way to show expenses all on the Wireline side? Seems strange.

Because it is an internal hostile take-over. Wireless people are pushing out wireline. It has been going on since right before the Vodafone buy out, and picked up shortly thereafter. When Killian was not picked as Ivan's successor, it was all over for anyone and anything not wireless.
I suspect all the severance and anything else they come up with will be debt moved to wireline. I wouldn't be surprised if laptops and any dead equipment will be piled on also.
What is the rationale of moving employees to wireline (or to wireless,) after they are RIFed? That does not make any sense and his or her lumpsum, pension and service bridging etc can be impacted. I doubt this is true.
Poster 1als, it's supposed to be "their own RIFs."
What are RIFF's 1als? An incorrect acronym singularized. You just doubled-down on stupid. You can tell that you're an individual that would indeed shun the Huffington Post and instead favor FOX. They are a magnet for the simple-minded.
Hey, 1als, if you're going to be pompous, yet you cannot spell, please invest in a dictionary. The word is griping, not gripping. As you said, "... you are not too smart."

If you believe the Huffington Post, well, you are not too smart.

Wireline having there own RIFF's, very few if any, are coming from Wireless.

Quit gripping.
You already hit the nail on the head. Moving riffed wireless people to wireline is a sneaky way to load costs onto wireline, making it appear less profitable. Then, when vz is accused of failing to support the copper wireline infrastructure, it can show what appears to be factual evidence of how unprofitable the wireline business is. But a far more important reason to cook the books is the Q1 2016 results, which vz will provide to Wall Street. In the smoke filled back rooms of vz this is how the plan goes. If it's a bad quarter, take many of the big boys and girls of Wall Street to lunch and show them 1) just how profitable wireless is 2) what a lame duck wireline is 3) and for the coup de grace, show them just how much vz is saving by riffing people on the wireline side of the business. Eating foie gras and drinking Chateau Lafite Rothschild, the Wall Street insiders will be reassured that all is well and that vz is vigorously culling the Lilliputians on the wireline side as fast as is humanly possible. Another glass Irene? ( Irene Donner, named most powerful woman in banking last year). Oh! I shouldn't, as she stretches out her arm for a refill of Baron Rothschilds $90 a glass Chateau Lafite. Anyone for a cup of company koolade? Handed to each of us in a plastic cup, of course?
