Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Give me one reason why the board is not firing this CEO. Don't say all board members are his buddies.

The fat cats will remain employed, that I would be their main concern...not you or the company

It's not like Vz is the only 5g player.

5g will be like 3d TV, why pay for something I don't need.

The employees are nothing but commodities to be bought and sold. There is no longer a sense of corporate memory or loyalty. They will all get what's coming to them in the end.

Disagree.... The BOTTOM LINE is how will we continue to make that profit? There is no long term vision here. We all know it. Competition is at war with vz.

They haven't saved any money from the layoffs yet. Everyone is on payroll till EOY at least. And severance payouts in Q1 mean you won't see the cost savings until Q2. The bottom line is that the company is making $1B per quarter in profit, and really is positioned well for where the industry is going. The best network, will be the first with 5G, and everything is going mobile. The company is in good shape really, go90 notwithstanding.

This post got me thinking about what's in store for us. Vz keeps laying off and reducing head count...the stock price should be way higher than it is.

You the shareholders can fire him. Kind of. Next year vote AGAINST every director and proposition they reccomend and vote FOR every one they reccomend voting against. SEND THEM A MESSAGE. REMEMBER IF YOU DON'T VOTE YOUR PROSPECTUS/SHARES THE VOTE AUTOMATICALLY GOES TO WHAT THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS RECCOMEND WHICH IS WHAT THEY WANT.

what do any of these execs know about telcom? wireless? networks? absolutely NOTHING, except the bottom line. $$$. your leader has stacked his board to benefit him. apparently your leader is selling all of his cookies, and when the cookie jar is empty he will go takeover some other company's cookie jar after he deploys his golden parachute.

this is how business is done today.

the devil is in the details.

loyal employees need to stop being loyal, loyalty is not needed or rewarded today in big business. your upper, entitled, management wants you to be a puppet for them. as in all big companies today.

goog luck!

"......The board of directors is charged with maintaining the highest standards of corporate governance because it believes that an effective board will positively influence shareholder value and enhance Verizon's reputation. All of our directors stand for election each year. Our Board as a whole reflects a range of viewpoints, backgrounds and expertise because we believe that diversity is a core attribute of a well-functioning board. A summary of the board's role and guiding principles can be found in our corporate governance guidelines....."

I believe they have all been paid off.
