&sprint-nextel has started a major round of layoffs this week - my wife works there. Their CEO sent an email saying 'it has started' but nobody knows who will be hit and how many people will be hit.

who do these corporate vultures think will be able to afford cellphones when no one has jobs?
Wow....holiday greed usually trumps all, but I guess this time they can't even wait for that to be over. Good luck to all those impacted. My guess is they will be off payroll in January and be the first to experience Sprint's new reduced severance package of 1 week per year worked instead on 2 weeks per year.

Its everywhere...sad that this has become the new American Way, afraid of when its your turn to be walked out the door..
Besides sales, who else is left here in the states at sprint.? Doesn't sprint sub out everything overseas? Sprint was in the news for pulling out of walmart this holiday season.
