Chennai experiencing historic rains.

V Teamers in the area are safe, though some remain unable to return home due to unpassable roads and unsafe conditions. The VDSI Chennai Olympia Tech Park office remains closed until further notice, and will reopen when deemed safe to do so. The RMZ facility is fully operational.

Our thoughts are with the VDS India V Team during this challenging time.

We will provide updates to this article, as needed..

Mr 6dqg

going by the quote of 6dqq

Reap reap reap what 'you' sow. The pity is you fail to understand what 'you' are sowing!!!

this is posted by a non American worker. That is why the language 'you' as opposed to 'we'

This person thinks he is safe from his own actions while the rest of the world is not.... so typical

When you point one finger at others. Maybe you need to see that 3 fingers are pointing at you.

@6dqg

Some day you and your children will reap what you sow today too :-)

going by the language very easy to figure out where you are coming from too :

False resumes - Job theft that you are condoning and maybe indulging in.....is bad Karma.

Same rules apply to you too. what goes around comes around.... you wait for your turn too.

Sorry we know the native people who lived in America only by this name. Never intended any racism. Read it as "original people of the land". Any legitimate name which does not sound racist?

IRAQ wars, Ta----n, ISIS, Pakistan, Al Queida whose products? A Comprehensive list of such things may need millions of pages. Reap reap reap what you sow. @3wdm - We should probably not worry about people who spread ill will and try to kick people when they are down.

A man who gives his hand to lift up a fallen man is a 'True Man/Woman' . These kind of people/comments are not even worth the time or attention.

Hope everyone still had 'happy holidays' and will smile this christmas season. No matter what has happened. The darkest hour is before the dawn.

We should all watch 'it's a wonderful life' movie to get inspired and just enjoy the layoff as a wonderful break and remember that when one door closes.. lots others open.

The verizon CEO compensation is dwarfed by the compensation paid to Disney CEO.. remember the guy who replaced 500 disney employees with contracting firms bringing in H1b visa..

http://fortune.com/2015/04/21/ceos-pay-cash/

This is how much they make and I read somewhere that if he gets the disney stock price to a certain value then he gets to take home 60 million dollars. What do you think he will do. Cut cut cut everyone here above 40 and making 100K and replace them with cheaper workers. Do we blame the cheaper workers or the Chief here.

Why do you guys think Elizabeth warren is trying to fight the insane CEO salaries in Wall Street. We need to tell her that the corporate American ceo salaries are insane too. Watch her videos on youtube and it will tell us how the executives in America are geting greedier and greedier and greedier....

No point in blaming low paid workers in India, phillipines and other countries. All that they are getting is minimum wages to make a living.

What do you think is Meg Whitman's HP ceo's worth ? 2 billion dollars. not sure how many zeros for 2 billion dollars, while she throws the workers on the streets sometimes with no severances. She laid of 85K workers in USA and is hiring in low wage countries.

Now let;s decide where the root of the problem is. Third world counties workers or the greedy CEOs. unless this is clear. we are barking up the wrong tree

Shareholder Value.....?

Verizon Communications Inc. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Lowell McAdam received $18.3 million in total compensation last year, a 16 percent increase.

McAdam’s base salary was $1.58 million, $100,000 more than in 2013, his cash bonus fell to $3.8 million from $4.13 million, and his stock award jumped 28 percent to $12 million, the company said Monday in a regulatory filing.

@2rod -please note, these jobs are being pushed to India by the CEOs and executives, whether they have the resources to improve their infrastructure is not the question here. Complaining about the poor Indian infrastructure is a waste of Bandwidth. The Question is whether the people directly affected here will do anything to improve their situation. Writing off the situation by words like Govt is in bed with corps and media is sold is not called taking responsibility and acting responsibility. The directly affected people have a lot of venues. There are reporters who are writing about Disney, Edison, Target. Are you taking note of the author and called them.

It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness. I was not directly impacted by Verizon otherwise I would have talked to the organisation that is helping people free of charge. Only the impacted people have stories to post and stories to tell. The rest of us will read and get education what is happening in Verizon.

1cnr - of course I don't expect posting here will get my job back. I was simply stating my opinion and facts as I was directly impacted during VZ layoffs. The media can be censored and not report things like the massive layoffs at VZ. Usually people find out by word-of-mouth. The government is corrupt so who is to say they are not "in bed" with a lot of these greedy US corporations. I am sure the government already knows about the increase in offshoring of American jobs...

@2msz - nobody is saying this is right or principled..... all I am saying they are doing what they can to save money - right or wrong..... let's do what we SHOULD to force their hands to

  1. Make in USA.... refuse to buy made in China

  2. Offshoring.... we need the Govt support..... the senators need to know what is happening in the companies to make new laws.... give tax breaks to companies that make in USA and onshore projects....... and tax the companies that offshore and make in other countries.....

Do our senators hear people's voice..... maybe we are not screaming LOUD and CLEAR

And yes CONSUMER IS KING..... we can force the companies to make right decisions too.... by refusing to buy products that don't serve the local community or give jobs to local communities.

That was an excellent way of phrasing something I've observed far too many times.

"But I vas just following order!"

So much for principle based management. If there is one thing that I did have the good fortune to observe during the later number of years is that absolute lack of principle based leadership and managment, and why I am glad to be leaving.

Just because something is legal to do, does not mean it is principled. Outsourcing jobs to India with lower living standards is not principled when you are preaching that the company is focused on the communities is serves.

I can't stand speaking to any customer service off shore. I find it offensive and always asked to be transferred to someone stateside.

So while I feel bad for the folks in chennai, I feel worse for the people who lost their jobs to them.

All of you are ridiculous and ignorant. Mad about offshoring, take it up with your politicians and not on a board. Complaining here about losing your job to offshoring 1qek isn't going to get you your job back. Verizon is not the only employer offshoring, as a business they are making decisions based on our current laws, don't like the law then vote for politicians who are looking out for your best interest as a whole, the lesser of two evils. Too many vote against their own self interest just to make sure others don't get a free ride yet burn themselves in the process.

let's have clarity.... The jobs are going to India because the CEOs and executives want to take advantage of the cost advantage.... they are the ones trying to take advantage of the situation..... influencing the politicians..... and of course the inaction on the workers here to stand up and fight for their rights is helping them do it....

Why are you blaming the contractors who were given contracts and told to work on thsoe projects. They have no idea.... what is going on.....

WHY DON'T YOU GUYS WRITE TO OUR EXECUTIVE TEAMS AND PUNISH THEM BY NOT BUYING THESE PRODUCTS.... I changed my service to a competitor.

WHY DON"T YOU ALL STOP BUYING 'made in china' and ask for 'made in USA' products then..... the executives will be forced to made them in usa and start bringing the jobs back....

GROW UP GUYS... wishing karma on workers isnt going to help anyone.... but action on your part will

  1. STOP BUYING 'made in other countries' products...... ask to speak to the store manager and tell them you want made in USA products otherwise you don't intend to come back again to that store.

  2. Change service to competitors

  3. Cold call media and tip them off.

  4. write to your senators and tell them what you know.( understand they don;t know the corporate happenings)

of couse you can sit on your bed and curse other people and crib and not lift a finger......

It is very interesting phenomenon that people just CRIB and CRY that their jobs were taken away by Indian workers but No one I repeat no one want to stop that phenomenon from happening...... you guys don't even want to do a SMALL THING like sign a petition to congress to stop the jobs from going to offshore..... You guys have all the time to crib... moan,..... cry and curse but not a few mins to go and sign a simple petition to let the congress know PEOPLE'S opinion...

you have a choice.... act and take control and stand up to the people doing it... or crib and cry and curse and expect those actions to change the world..

1uuf did you feel sorry when Americans were loosing jobs so more like you could fill your pockets by wrongfully claiming to be cheaper?

Do I feel sorry when some like you lost power, don't have food and did not plan for natural disaster because you were busy stealing someone's job ?

Who cares, there are billions of them. When the rain stops, they will just crawl back out of the woodwork and get back to taking American jobs away from us. Hows that for ignorance and "racism" EMYLMJ9-1uuf? You going to report me to HR you cry baby? You wouldn't know what racism is if it punched you in the face. I am sick of people like you misusing that word. This isn't about racism, it is about hard working Americans losing their jobs and corporations exploiting the American worker.

I think the Karma refers to the US business owners who have sent jobs to India; not the people who live in India. I am not prejudiced by any means, but, I do have a problem with the United States sending American workers jobs offshore. I lost my job to Indian workers through no fault of my own.

The level of ignorance here is unbelievable with the comments posted on this website. All these uncover bigots and racists that I work alongside. As a human being, why would you want to wish ill will on people? These are people and have an equal right to try to make their lives better. They are just employees hired to do a job. If you want to be mad, be mad at the people who hired them. Directing anger at people who are just trying to put food on the table is just plain stupid. You want to get mad, then get mad at your politicians to make changes to how jobs are offshored. Demand changes in Congress and not wishing Karma on people. Maybe that is why you find yourself in the predicament you are in? Huge possibility that your bosses saw right through your racist/bigot rantings. Learn to develop yourself and if you are not wanted at a company then hopefully you took advantage of their great education coverage and advanced yourself for the marketplace. Obviously many of you sat like lumps on a log and thought you had a cushy job until you retired. If this is the way you troll on this page then it is obviously telling who you people are to HR. Pretty disturbing how people call themselves good employees and yet portray different behavior for all to see by hiding behind an anonymous post.
