There is technology out there, and being used by other ILECS to pump data over copper. fast data. is it as good as fiber? don't know. mabee sell it to someone who wants to use it, instead of constantly bitching and crying and moaning about copper

Like any business, the company invests all it needs to and no more. With cellphones and cable bundles that basically give away voice, as well as VoIP services like Vonage, the customer base is shrinking for copper. On top of that, the regulators limit what can be charged to the remaining customers.

With that cocktail, copper will be maintained but not upgraded. Simple math.

All eggs in one basket. The wireless basket. Hows ARPA post vodafone? Most CEO's that go on TV and say that earnings will be flat for the next year, and then don't have a plan in place, get ousted.

I am not a VZW customer, but with data limits how can this company expect people to view all this video content on a wireless device. With my cell provider I have 10g, watching Tv or any media is not a problem. When I was a VZW customer it was a daily problem, checking my data to see if I needed to tell the kids to not use data. My point is keeping the focus on wireless, with so much passion seems to be a bad decision.

Wireline is stable, profitable, union enhanced, why wouldn't they care about it? They will come to cherish and value it as much as they can. The writing on the wall cannot be any more clear for wireless.

Wireline is old, not profitable, union burdened, why would they care about it? They will dump it as soon as they can. The writing on the wall cannot be any more clear.

We are not going to maintain old, or build new networks in your town. Also, moving forward, there is no amount of money we wont't spend to stop anyone else who wants to build their own broadband network in your town or municipality.

There is no one left to sell them to. The company already sold off most of the lines that made any money.

It is weird that Verizon does not sell off networks it has no apparent interest in maintaining...
