What are the options for the employees that will be out of job?

Which cities/companies are good to target? What are the chances that most of the folks will find a better or equal paying job?

Cisco payoffs if you have experience, if you don't is not much different from any other IT certification

If you have a degree, you may want to be a teacher. In California some teachers make 100K+

CISCO Certificates - best return on investment, you'll get good pay once you have them

If you are in IT and want to get good skills you can go with Accenture, they are picky about hiring, but once you are in you can develop your skills further, top notch projects (most of them) - if you want to go into management, that's good to as they develop your management skills if you want

Used to work for tata too, check them out, they are a consulting/outsourcing outfit and one of the best. The pay was not that good (comparably)

I think it depends on your age, skill set, and experience. My job with AT&T pays almost $30k more than I make now based on the title I would have there. So I'm not too concerned. I've got a lot of years in and vacation built up so that's why I haven't jumped shipped already. We can all say what we want about the executives being greedy etc but the reality is that's the capitalistic world we live in. They have a responsibility to Wall Street and Shareholders, they owe us nothing. I have to say, I have loved working for Verizon, they have taken very good care of me and I don't have a bad thing to say about them. I mean it will suck if I lose my job but I understand the responsibility they have and I know if something doesn't change, then the VZ we know and love won't look the same or even be around in 10 years. With that said, I've got my résumé updated and jobs in the cart if and when I get the news and plan to have a really nice long holiday vacation.
