Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

10/28 and 11/5 Verizon Layoffs

So, here is the rundown: the upcoming Verizon layoffs will affect 11 Regions, 2 Areas. Will probably start on 10/28, however 11/5 is possible as well. The cuts will affect 15% to 20% of the overal workforce in the regions/areas and this number will be including all folks who are lined up for the announced Frontier transfers. To make things more interesting, there will be a major reorganization, P&Ls will shift, the shake up will affect many senior level folks and some will be out as well. org of all functional groups. So, to properly characterize this, please note that all of this is a collection of rumors that I heard over last 4 weeks. Things are coming from multiple sides, many sources are reliable, some of them are not, I would take all of this with a gran of salt but EVERY SINGLE THING I HEAR is pointing towards a major reorg move with heavy layoff casualties in multiple Verizon business lines (and back office).

Midwest Area / Illinois Wisconsin Region current HQ is under lease until 2020. They are not going anywhere . Elgin Call center is moving to Rolling Meadows as the lease is up in the current building, this was announced a while ago. Plus Rolling Meadows is larger to allow for growth. What level upper management is your family.

Midwest area wireless is moving their call center to Rolling Meadows. Has nothing to do with the layoffs. Rolling Meadows is a larger call center so they are growing.....

These are NOT rumors! It IS happening. I have a family member in upper management that's been anticipating the company's announcements, which they have been delaying. Verizon is laying off to about 20,000-40,000 employees.
