Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Layoffs have nothing to do with you, your talents, your brilliance, your ability and least of all, your future

Lot of your colleagues say "Ooooohh..i was supposed to be in that list" , "glad at least you were out of this place, Verizon really sucks" , "you will find good job soon" , "you got a great package". and when you aren't around they were talking with others" glad the bottom 5%, non-performers, lazy, non-contributing people are gone, now we can work peacefully". so don't listen to your colleagues. they think they made the cut because they are high performers or they have good xxxxxxx with their manager. My team knows how hard we worked day and night..sacrificing families and desires...were always on time and late nights..weekends...late night meetings..early morning meetings with offshore..so family is the only one who can understand and review your performance...appreciation emails, awards...nothing mattered now in front of manager personal revenge... Layoffs say: You are rejected. You are not needed. You are no longer welcome here. You are not good enough. You are not a part of us anymore. You are not valued. And you are not worthy of being kept on. That’s a pretty harsh message even for the hard core among us. So let yourself absorb that, digest it, deal with it, and accept that it is hard, really hard, to come to terms with a layoff. You didn’t ask for it. You didn’t expect it, and you most certainly don’t deserve it. But layoffs have nothing to do with you, your talents, your brilliance, your ability and least of all, your future!

The slackers should have been gone years ago, unless managers weren't doing their jobs properly.

Being RIFd now is more a circumstance of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Some groups get touched, some don't...

If you make a lot you'll get a cut. I had a team of 4 contractors, one was the best, but was charging 50% more, it always pissed me off. Yet, he was delivering 50% more value so I was Ok, at some point he kind of slowed down, was 25% better than others, but cost me 50% more and i did not like that from day 1. i used the first opportunity to cut him, he was gone in no time, rolled on a new gy that was 40% less expensive, i do not miss my old guy at all

Anonymous181662 - Yes. But overall it's totally neutral as a discussion, yes if you work long enough, you'll get laid off. Now if you're earning more than you can expect to get outside your current job, then I'd enjoy it while you can, and make the most of a good situation because it's not likely to last.

The OP needs to work on proper sentence construction and punctuation. Just reading the post gave me a headache.

You need to go through some bankruptcy scenarios where you are forced to take 7-8 jobs in order to make your numbers. Then you might see the value of personnel performance.

I recall a seminar leader's statement about RIFs/Layoffs: 80% of your co-workers do not care about you being terminated and the remaining 20% are relieved it happened to you instead of them.
