Just announced in my office:
8000 management rif by Nov. 5 to include wireline and wireless. Company "restructuring" and jobs will look "very different" in the near future. Just transfered all of Cary, NC wholesale to Frontier, who wants to create a wholesale ordering center.
Nothing has been announced, anywhere.

Where was this meeting held?
I don't know about the contract but in the most recent corporate negotiation update they started using the "last best offer" verbiage, which I understand is the preamble to the impasse. With it only being 3 1/2 months of negotiations, though, an impasse seems premature to me, but maybe that's my wishful thinking.
Any idea how this effects the unresolved contract in the Northeast?
We were told that the entire company is restructuring and we will find this out Friday if our specific center will be impacted or not, though we won't find out HOW it will be impacted?!?!
And that's correct, the sale to Frontier is unrelated to the 8000 that will find out Nov 5 (management rif day). Again, we were told company wide, both wireless and wireline are being affected. Not specifics given today beyond this.
9,000 going to Frontier have nothing to do with the 8,000 that were announced.

Are 9,000 people transitioning to F going to be keeping their seniority (e.g., vacation, pay level, etc.)?
There has been a 9,000 member transition to Frontier for quite some time now. Those are not RIF's, they still have a job, they're getting paid by a different company, and most of those will be somewhat safe for the first year.
Hard to believe
That was our official announcement based on meetings that took place this morning. Our managers were in Boston last week collaborating over "span of control" and headcount. Based on the verbiage used in the meeting I deduce that either we will relocate to Frontier or our work will and we will have different jobs within the company.
Tomorrow we'll announce earnings and there will be a PR release

Confirmed. Was told under the frontier Sale that frontier was promised a number of bodies but people retired when they found out they were being transferred. This was one solution to give them headcount and decrease headcount under Kwame's org. He still needs 80 gone. Possible eisp coming but unknown who/where/when at this time.
