Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

We are trying to transform into what something that's very poorly defined

Verizon wants to be something that will be the next step and level up if compared to wire/wireless. But what is that? Is that a cloud play? Security? Telematics?... Are we going to be a wholesaler? The mother of all backbones? I do not get it, I get the need but I do not get the strategy - the executives are struggling with a vision, resources, and org structure to make anything a reality. Several re-organizations over last few years so job security (read LAYOFFS) has frequently been a major question (and remains to be so). We often offer a rather delayed response to competitors caused by management's concern that acting timely would in turn piss off Wall Street boys. And for all kool-aid drinkers, while not bad, VZ is not the "happiest" place to work because no result is ever good enough and successes are seldom recognized as we always focus the next weekly/monthly/quarterly goal.

No company in our industry has a clear strategy right now - I do not even think that you can use a term telecommunications any more, it's all internet now
