Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Stop exposing our company to strangers

Why expose the dirt in your own house, at the end of the day Verizon paid your bills. How soon you forgot your application process when you wanted to work here so bad because VZ was so cool to work at and all the perks the company offered for your and for your family and benefits and pay. Now you forgot all of it. Quit it!

This Verizon troll is in wrong blog, caution to all, he may looks like the mythical, cave-dwelling being depicted in folklore as a dwarf, typically having a very ugly appearance.,synonyms: goblin, hobgoblin, gnome, halfling, demon, monster, bugaboo, ogre

This troll sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers

The people attacking the so called cool aid drinker are part of the problem, union entitlement! The wireless company has outperformed without the BS spewed by your union bosses who do not work here therefore you are the true cool aid drinkers. Aside from maybe the techs who are physically installing hardware... Paying dues to someone to negotiate what we already get... brilliant. You didn't see this coming? The stagecoach drivers said the same thing I bet when they saw the model T. I have not had a landline in 10 years! The company has to make changes and I may be impacted it stinks and I am petrified but it is what it is. I understand the fear but the hatred to your employer misguided.Technology and progress also creates the need for headcount reduction. Our competition has put us in a place we never expected. There is no such thing as security in any job and for good reasons, complacency, fairness, performance, progress. If I am one of the impacted I will proudly have VZW on my resume and I know it will open doors. I agree that much of the financial issues were created by poor Sr. management and they should be first out the doors but I am over it. Keep me if you can big red, thanks for benefits, salary and friends/colleagues I've made, house, car, vacations, hospitalization etc...ALSO...Stop leaking info!... you are only hurting yourselves by damaging our reputation in the marketplace which translates into revenue, which we benefit from! Seriously what kind of moron does that? BTW I hate cool aid... just smarter than you and not raised with entitlement as my mantra and my Dad was union. Me, VZ ..W ..14 years... and counting.

Anonymous180535....many do well in other jobs, they just don't bother to post on these boards. Just visit LinkedIn. It does not change the feeling that people and their dedication are thrown away. Knowledgeable people who have been let go. Things are left without someone taking over or understanding how it function causing issues. The company expects loyalty but provides none in return. Those complaining have their right to complain so who are you to say they don't? Not all in upper management should be in those positions as they can't manage their organizations properly. There are horror stories that I've never had to experience but am aware of. Glad you experience so far has been roses.

I know lots of folks that in the last 10 years that have all either quit or got laid off from Verizon. They all agree on these three things. Verizon sucks as an employer. Their new jobs are much better. And the only American's left at Verizon are the brown-nosing, AK'ers that couldn't get a job anywhere else.

I was listening to NPR show about the changes in workplaces that make it harder for men to make as much as they used to. A wireline tech came on talking about the last strike, where he and his buddies discussed how they could not make nearly as much outside of Verizon. The company is changing, but most of the complaints I see here are how people get laid off, and then can't find as decent pay and working conditions.

So my takeaway is that Verizon is a good place to work, if you have the needed skills. People are pissed they may lose these decent jobs and then bitch that they can't find as good a job when they are let go. If Verizon were so terrible, why don't we see people saying they have done much better since leaving?

Remember when they used to send employees a survey of how they are doing as a company like, are you being treated fairly, is your workplace safe & comfortable, etc etc. They actually did care for their employees at one time.

Better question to the person who posted this, why hide it? People forgot what it was like because it no longer exists. What flavor is your kool-aide? No worries they will be calling your number next and you will come back and claim what a horrible company for giving you the boot. Company everyone knew is long gone.

Well, after 20 years, 2 3rds of the way through, you better have a good reason to walk away as much as VZ sucks.

I would never recommend to my worst enemy looking for a career move that VZ would be a good, or even a choice for employment.

What I would say is milk this cow till there is no milk left. Hate them as much as they hate you.Give them as much as they want to give you, and enjoy the ride.

Because over time (i have 19years) this company has changed dramatically. Especially since McAdams took over. No consideration for work life balance, No care to how far they want to move you because they don't THINK there is the work in area. Abandonment of the copper plant. And you espouse just what we are hearing from upper management , Don't like it? Quit ! Well ya, I am as soon as the next union package comes out ! and it can't come soon enough.
