Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

I think the era of unions in the private sector is nearing the end of their existence.

They provided a vital benefit in times past, but with social media, jobs sites, LinkedIn, the plethora of places people can go to share their stories of bad treatment by employers and corporations, negatively impacting the quality of candidates which translates to higher pay for quality new hires and existing employees, as well as hurting sales long term. Who wants to by from a company that treats their people like crap? The Public Sector has become a feeding frenzy for unions, the public sector does not have to turn a profit, they can bleed those entities beyond city and county bankruptcies and possibly forever at the Federal level. Unions in the private sector appear to be in namesake only, corps seem to have a Divide and Conquer Playbook Union Busting playbook, and they run it play by play, slowly advancing their agenda as union membership withers.

They played chicken and union lost the game. Now time to let management folks go. OP don't complain about quiet training. This has always been the case to train management and have them work during the strike. A week of training doesn't add up to permanent replacement.
