Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Why not split the company into 3 parts? Wireless, Enterprise, and CMB?

If the steet is measuring the combined performance of the company, it always looks CMB and Enterprise units are culprits. Let these be spinoff as separate companies so each unit can be fairly judged. That will reduce the need for layoffs.

Who would want to install Fiber to the premise... Google, AT&T, and a host of other companies. Perhaps if wireline wasn't the sacrificial goat absorbing the wireless accounting costs it would be better off.

I think their problem is the wireline / backbone / fios services have become Utilities, translates to very low margins. As a pure wireless entity like T-Mobile, being able to shop around for the best cost Utility is an advantage, a position Verizon would love to be in but unfortunately they own and are liable for a huge amount of preexisting infrastructure, infrastructure they can't easily, perhaps legally, unload. They're trying to sell a legacy telephone company in the era of smartphones. Who in their right mind would buy it?

I think Verizon execs just like to translate layoffs into bonus $$$ for themselves. They don't really care about performance or what is fair.

Looks great to Wall St / banker types. Destroys Verizon's telecom business and segregates the business units that need to work together to keep balance. No one does anything in wireless without fiber backbone to compliment spectrum.
